BLURB: In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety.
But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn’t a primary concern.
On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied ‘droid — a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as “Murderbot.” Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is.
But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and their Murderbot to get to the truth.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Largo: novella-

Human clients usually like to pretend I’m a robot and that’s much easier in the armor. I let my eyes unfocus and pretended I was running a diagnostic on something.

Reseña: In the House of the Seven Librarians

IN THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN LIBRARIANS
BY
ELLEN KLAGES

 3 stars

Encantadora historia corta.

A fantasy whimsical tale about Librarians world, a girl, and dewey system.

By the time she was four, or thereabouts, she could sound out the letters for simple words—CUP and LAMP and STAIRS. And that’s how she came to name herself.

Olive had fallen asleep over Make Way for Ducklings, and all the other librarians were busy somewhere else. The child was bored. She tiptoed out of the Children’s Room, hugging the shadows of the walls and shelves, crawling by the base of the Circulation Desk so that Marian wouldn’t see her, and made her way to the alcove that held the Card Catalog. The heart of the library. Her favorite, most forbidden place to play.

Reseña: Dr. Polingyouma's Machine

DR. POLINGYOUMA'S MACHINE
BY
EMILY DEVENPORT

 4 stars

Si más gente fuera responsable e hiciera su trabajo a conciencia, mejor serian las cosas en este mundo. Y tal vez hasta en otros, quien sabe.

First lines: Dr. Polingyouma’s machine is still running, that’s what they tell me. Just what that machine does depends on whom you ask. And they’ve made it pretty clear that I’m not being paid to ask questions. Since I’m being paid so well, I don’t push it.

The well paid job, every 24-28 days, is janitorial. And Harris does it with her best of abilities, because among other things best left alone, her life is at stake.

Reto Popsugar 27: Un libro ambientado en otro planeta.

This is a First Contact story. With furry hominid aliens.

The alien society portrayed here is of the matriarchal variety. Pre-industrial. The females live generally in nomadic villages , they grew vegetables, take care of the children, tan skins, cure, knit, and are the shamaness and smiths. The males are encouraged and expected to leave after puberty, where they live in the wild , hunting alone, herding animals, guarding territories if strong , and waiting spring to mate.

The males are think as ill tempered and intolerant of other males or people in general; are solitary. The weak males are pushed far , and the old are tolerated in the fringe of villages until their dead or going crazy running into the wild.

There are no wars, no homicide, no crime.
They exchange gifts , crafted jewelry, knives, embroidered clothes (the males do that craft btw), or food. Or stories.

The myths of the world are narrated in the book, interesting tales of creation, spirits, demons and cautionary tales.
